title Five Women'S Altar (Detail)description Cat. 3 022(6) From Galería de la Raza/Studio 24's Day of the Dead Exhibition. Photo is of a multi-leveled altar adorned with marigolds, calaveras, small sculptures, corn husks, and feathers. Detail is of the uppermost portion of the altar, which features feathers and corn husks behind a white mask. Beside the mask are statues of the Virgen de Guadalupe and Ganesa and a candle. The next level down features calaveras and marigolds. The artist of any work retains all rights to that work. Copyright has not been assigned to the Regents of the University of California. Plaster casts of two torsos, one male, one female, joined at the hands. The female, nude, is upright, her arms extended, shoulders tense, with mouth open in cry of lament. The male figure bleeds from the mouth and is oriented obliquely, suggesting death or injury. The artist of any work retains all rights to that work.
