Gilberto is one of the first Mexican Mural artists to create a mural in San Diego. Guillermo Aranda assisted him acquiring much needed mural work process experience. Approximately in 1997 Gilberto returns to San Diego to restore his mural at San Diego State University in Montuzuma center.
